Modern Slavery Statement
Battersea Movers Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Battersea Movers in relation to our financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Battersea Movers recognises its responsibility to act ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all business dealings.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Battersea Movers has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, human trafficking, servitude, and child labour. We are committed to ensuring that our business is conducted in a manner that respects human rights and upholds the dignity and wellbeing of every person who works with or for us.
We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers, contractors, and business partners. Any involvement in or tolerance of modern slavery practices is strictly prohibited. Where we identify a risk or breach, we will act promptly and decisively, which may include terminating relationships with suppliers or partners who fail to meet our standards.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Battersea Movers operates in the removals and logistics sector, providing moving, storage, and related services. Our supply chains include providers of transport, packaging materials, equipment, facilities management, and agency labour where applicable. We recognise that some parts of these supply chains may be more vulnerable to modern slavery risks.
We are working to map and understand our supply chain in greater detail so that we can identify, assess, and manage potential risks more effectively. We prioritise doing business with reputable organisations that share our commitment to ethical and responsible practices.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We require our key suppliers and contractors to operate in accordance with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. We are developing and implementing supplier standards that explicitly prohibit the use of forced, trafficked, or child labour, and that require fair working conditions and lawful employment practices.
Battersea Movers undertakes risk-based supplier audits and assessments. These may include reviewing policies and procedures, requesting declarations of compliance, and, where appropriate, site visits or third-party verification. Where concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier on corrective actions within a defined timeframe or consider ending the relationship if improvements are not made.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. Training focuses on recognising signs of exploitation, understanding our policies, and knowing how to report concerns safely.
Our managers are responsible for implementing this Statement within their teams and ensuring that modern slavery risks are considered when selecting and managing suppliers or subcontractors.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Battersea Movers encourages all employees, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders to report any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices in our operations or supply chains. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels or directly to senior management.
Reports can be made confidentially and will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and addressed appropriately. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, and we are committed to protecting the identity and wellbeing of whistleblowers wherever possible.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process and we are committed to continuous improvement. Battersea Movers will review this Modern Slavery Statement at least once a year to assess the effectiveness of our approach and to identify opportunities for strengthening our policies, procedures, and controls.
As part of the annual review, we will consider any incidents reported, outcomes of supplier audits, feedback from stakeholders, and relevant changes in legislation or industry best practice. Where necessary, we will update our training, supplier requirements, and internal processes to ensure they remain robust and effective.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Battersea Movers and reflects our commitment to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and with respect for the fundamental human rights of all individuals involved in our operations and supply chains.
